‘Yayo’ rapper Snootie Wild dead at 36

Snootie Wild, the Memphis, Tennessee, rapper best known for hit singles “Yayo” and “Made Me” died on Feb. 26, 2022, in Houston, a day after he was shot, according to multiple reports.

The late rapper, whose real name is LePreston Porter, was 36.


According to ABC 13, the artist was found in a ditch next to an SUV with a gunshot wound to his neck. Wild’s death was confirmed on his Instagram page on Feb. 26.

Houston police told ABC 13 it appeared the SUV accidentally backed into a ditch, an argument occurred as another vehicle pulled up and “one shot” went off. Texas police found Porter shot around 2 p.m. on Feb. 25.


Wild’s breakout 2014 single “Yayo” featured Yo Gotti, who signed the artist to his CMG label. “Made Me,” also released in 2014, featured Atlanta rapper K-Camp.

Porter is the latest rapper to have been gunned down and one of the most commercially successful Memphis rappers to get shot and killed since Young Dolph in November 2021.
