On June 26, Diddy accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award during the BET Awards. Diddy was honored by a number of people prior to giving his acceptance speech.

The speech was very moving and empowering, as he talked about supporting Black people, and how he had a dream of them being free. Toward the end of his speech, Diddy made an amazing offer.

“I want to donate a million dollars to Howard University,” Combs said. “Also, I’m gonna drop another million dollars on Deion Sanders and Jackson State, because we should play for us.”

Diddy attended Howard University before dropping out after two years. He also delivered their commencement speech in 2014, where he received an honorary doctorate from the university.

Jackson State has become a solid football program since Sanders took over. During his tenure, he led them to an 11-2 record in his first full season, won the SWAC title, and made a Celebration Bowl appearance. To add to that, they landed the top overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, Travis Hunter.
