Chick-fil-A, a popular and growing fast-food restaurant chain, is noted for its excellent customer service and pleasant dining experiences. Vikki Hardy Brown, a franchise owner and operator in Livonia, Michigan, has plans to keep up the momentum and extend that culture of service to her customers.
Brown is a Detroit native who graduated from the University of Michigan. Her extensive career in business operations, marketing, and consulting led her to attend an informational session for people interested in becoming Chick-fil-A franchisees. Now, she is successfully growing Chick-fil-A’s presence in the Detroit area and serving the community that means so much to her and her family.
How would you describe your style of leadership?
As a child, I had an influential moment where I couldn’t complete a wooden 3-D puzzle that I had taken apart. My grandfather finished the puzzle quickly, having never seen the completed version. He then revealed the secret, “I followed the grain of the wood.” Now, anything that I have envisioned in my life I see as being done by persevering and following the grain of the wood. As a leader, I’m all about collaborating and empowering the team so that they can grow and learn.
Why is effective teamwork important?
We’re better together. This is one of our core values at Chick-fil-A and allows us to create remarkable experiences for our guests. We’re committed to infusing joy within the Livonia community through our passionate team members, great-tasting food, and signature hospitality.
What insight can you provide for the best way to recruit great talent?
Understanding the culture … inspire people to be their best. People show up when you’re walking in your purpose and want to make an impact together. At our local restaurant, we’re passionate about creating a culture of care, caring for each other, our guests, and the community.
