How does it feel to be a part of the National Urban League “Women In Harmony” luncheon event in New Orleans?

It’s awesome to be here to see all the amazing ladies and gentlemen because the men are here supporting as well. We have an amazing lineup of women who we are honoring, we are just so proud of them, and they’re women of courage and that’s our thing. We’re celebrating women of courage this year. We’re back in New Orleans, it’s hot but let me tell you, this event is even hotter because of the women that we’re honoring and the amazing people who have joined us.

What inspires you to wake up every day and do what you do?

I absolutely love what I do, because I get a chance to create experiences for people, I get a chance to network and meet people, and we get a chance to change people’s lives every day. That’s the mission of the National Urban League. We’re empowering communities, and we’re changing lives. I like to say even if it’s one person at a time, it’s all worth it.

What is your superpower?

I think I’m a coalition builder. I love connecting people and I like connecting people to their purpose and their passion. When your purpose and your passion collide, that’s when all the magic happens.

Why should women in leadership roles help guide the next generation of women?

We have to always reach back, we always have to remember where we came from, and that somebody gave us a chance and gave us a shot. We have hired so many young women to join us and work this event, and volunteer with us through this event because we want to make sure that they have a chance, exposure, and an opportunity to be in the room to be seen and to be heard. That’s what we’re responsible to do.

How can we support the National Urban League?
