Koryn Hawthorne’s makeup artist, Keliyah, shared details regarding the technique she used for the “Look at God” music video, set to be released on Sept. 15. The Atlanta-based MUA has worked with other celebrities, including Toya Johnson, Reginae Carter, Dess Dior, Kaliii, India Love, Jordyn Woods and Mehgan James.
According to her Instagram, her specialty is “softy soft glams.”
Aiming to create an angelic look for Hawthorne, Keliyah explained that she worked with a natural color palette to serve up the soft glam.
What was your original idea for Koryn Hawthorne’s makeup look?
For her look, I just wanted to do something soft, [so] that I could build on [it] and make [it] more dramatic later throughout the different looks.
How did the song inspire you to create the makeup look?
The song is very soft, and even the scenery makes me want to use nudes and warm tones to build up the dimension of her eyes. That’s why I went with a very soft look, and then we gave her some glow because we were outside and the light was hitting. I also gave her a nude lip, but [added] bomb lashes because she still has to be glam.
What do you think of the song?
I just heard a bunch of her new music, and this song is one of her best. It’s beautiful, it makes you feel at peace, and makes you feel gratitude. It makes you appreciate God and everything that we have. Yeah, I love it. It’s beautiful.
