Saweetie wasted no time responding to social media users who ridiculed her 2023 VMAs reporting. The rapper and brand ambassador was one of the night’s correspondents, and her reading skills were criticized by many.

Later in the night before introducing one of the night’s performers, Saweetie directly addressed the memes and jokes.


“Stop making my stutter video go viral,” she said. “I see what you’re doing. Let’s try it again.”

On a lighter note, Saweetie had other funny moments throughout the night, including her reaction to seeing Fresh X Reckless on the red carpet.


Then there was the moment she forgot her cue to read the teleprompter.

Her outfit was also a topic of discussion for the awards show that was hosted in New Jersey during New York Fashion Week.

The outfit, Kim Shui ss24, debuted at New York Fashion Week.

The artist was also spotted at the LaQuan Smith show during the week.

Saweetie’s appearance at the VMAs came hours after it was reported Doja Cat was spotted hanging out with Quavo, Saweetie’s ex-boyfriend. Doja Cat and Saweetie teamed up for the 2021 hit single “Best Friend.”

On the side of supporting other female rappers, stars who sat in Saweetie’s section captured her supporting Nicki Minaj multiple times throughout the night.
