One thing that Suge Knight will never be short of is stories.

In an appearance on “The Daily Cannon” with Nick Cannon on Oct. 31, Knight called in from jail and spoke about an interesting signing he made for Death Row Records back in the day.

“Deion Sanders. When Prime wanted to be a rapper, I spent over half a million dollars of my own money,” Knight said. “I put guys in the studio, I paid Dallas Austin. I did all these songs, did everything.”

Sanders was a man of many talents during his playing days. He played professional football and baseball simultaneously, and it looks like he also had a budding music career. Even though Knight invested so much money, he never saw any return.

“Then one day they came to me and said, ‘Well, Prime deal with Nike and Death Row is a Black-owned company, and we don’t really want to deal with a Black-owned company. Even though you paid for everything and we signed to you, put us on the Interscope brand.’

“I go to Jimmy [Iovine] and say ‘Look, I paid for everything. The contract’s with me but could you put him out on Interscope,’ ” Knight said. “They’re like, ‘Oh yeah [I’ll] do that, anything for you Mr. Knight.’ If Prime performing somewhere, I’m taking a private plane to make sure everything’s good. But not one day did anybody give me a dollar back.”
