Skepta is to release his first new studio album in five years.
The grime rapper — whose last album, Ignorance Is Bliss, dropped in May 2019 — took to Instagram to reveal his latest, Knife and Fork, will be released later this year.
“It’s been years since I dropped my last album, and I want to thank you for all the love during my hiatus,” the rapper said. “I’ve seen the messages, tweets and TikToks. I’m truly grateful that my music is still resonating with the world, even in my absence. I’m happy to announce my next studio album #KnifeAndFork is loading this year.”
Ahead of Skepta’s album, the first single, “Gas Me Up,” will drop on January 26th.
“The first single #GasMeUp (Diligent) will be out January 26th. Can’t wait to see you all @bigsmokefestival. Happy 2024,” he added.
Skepta has yet to drop any hints about his music style on his upcoming record, but he is known to be a fan of the Swedish pop group ABBA.
The star was recently performing a DJ set at Dear Darling nightclub in London’s Mayfair, when he stunned revelers by dropping “Money, Money, Money” into his set as well as other ABBA hits.
“He was playing some amazing techno-house remixes. Then, out of nowhere, he started playing ABBA songs. He was singing along to the tracks he played and knew all the lyrics to ‘Money, Money, Money’,” A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column, “Skepta looked totally at home with ABBA and was clearly enjoying it because he was dancing along to them.”
