ABC’s hit show “Abbott Elementary” is finally back after being delayed by the SAG-AFTRA strike.
In the trailer for season three of Quinta Brunson’s award-winning sitcom, principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James) is trying a new approach to her job that is a big departure from her normal passive and unorthodox methods of leadership.
“I went to Harvard this summer. I’ve learned what it truly takes to do the job of a principal,” she says before unleashing a slew of new rules and tactics that drive the teaching staff to their wit’s end.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Janine (Quinta Brunson) has embarked on a new journey of her own.
“Oh f— yeah!” she exclaims before explaining that she’s “trying out cursing, you know, seeing how it goes,” as Gregory (Tyler James Williams) gives his signature deadpan look into the camera because of her awkward try at profanity.
Speaking of awkward … there are some lingering unanswered questions as to the status of Janine and Gregory’s friendship after their long-awaited kiss in season two but to hear the pair tell it; everything is fine between them.
“Oh no, no, no, no, Gregory and I are good,” Janine tries to convince viewers, with Gregory co-signing in his confessional with an unsteady, “Yeah, we’re fine.”
“You guys missed a lot,” Janine says at the close of the hilarious trailer.
Season three of “Abbott Elementary” is set to premiere Feb. 7 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
