Last offseason, Mecole Hardman signed with the New York Jets after playing for the Kansas City Chiefs in his first four years in the NFL. The Chiefs drafted Hardman in 2019 and greatly contributed to their success, winning two Super Bowls in that span.
Hardman now has another chance to win a Super Bowl, but there are some things that he learned in New York before coming back to the Chiefs.
“[The] grass ain’t always greener on the other side,” Hardman said. “I think everything happens for a reason. I came in there and I learned some things, and being with A-Rod. All of the stuff happened how it was supposed to be, I came back to what I’m used to and what’s the norm, and now we’re here.”
In four seasons with the Chiefs, he caught 151 passes for 2,088 yards and 16 touchdowns. Hardman then moved on to sign with the Jets, with hopes of catching passes from another prolific quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Unfortunately, Rodgers was hurt on the first play of the season, and Hardman was never involved in the offense for the Jets. He only played 28 snaps on offense and only caught one pass for six yards. It was evident Hardman wasn’t in the Jets’ plans, so they traded him back to a place more familiar, the Chiefs.
When Hardman was with the Jets, he predicted that the San Francisco 49ers would go to the Super Bowl this season, and they’d be playing his then-team, the Jets. His score prediction was the Jets winning 31-21.
Hardman got one-half of the prediction correct, but the good thing is that he’ll still be playing in the Super Bowl regardless, just with the Chiefs. He has another prediction for this game as well.
“I don’t know about the score, but if that s— is the same score, that’s gonna go viral,” Hardman said.
