Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s new joint album, Vultures, has already lost a potential fan in rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
After clips from the Chicago listening party for the album went viral, the man once known as the Prince of Darkness took to X on Friday, Feb. 9, to voice his displeasure for West’s use of a Black Sabbath (Osbourne’s long-time band) song after being denied permission.
“@kanyewest ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE A SECTION OF A 1983 LIVE PERFORMANCE OF “WAR PIG” FROM THE US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS & WAS REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MANY,” the 75-year-old rock star wrote. “HE WENT AHEAD AND USED THE SAMPLE ANYWAY AT HIS ALBUM LISTENING PARTY LAST NIGHT. I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”
While many of his followers agreed with Osbourne’s right to disdain over the situation, one user couldn’t help but remind the “Crazy Train” singer that this past Halloween, he and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, dressed up as Ye and Bianca Censori and posted pictures of their costumes.
As for Ye, he seems to be leaning into the villain role, as evidenced by one of the tracks previewed at the listening session called “Carnival.” Ye takes on all naysayers in the rebellious track and likens himself to several fallen stars, including R. Kelly, Bill Cosby, and Diddy.
“Anybody pissed off, gotta make them drink the urine/ Now, I’m Ye Kelly, b—-/ Now I’m Bill Cosby, b—-/ Now I’m Puff Daddy rich,” he decidedly spits on the track.
Vultures by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign aka ¥$ has yet to be released at press time, though it was scheduled to drop Feb 9.
