Why Atlanta Falcons’ star Bijan Robinson is ‘excited’ about 1st Black coach

Running back Robinson believes coach will change the city

Bijan Robinson is beyond excited to return to the football field.

The star Atlanta Falcons running back and Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate finished his first professional season with 976 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 214 carries. He also reeled 58 passes for 487 yards and four touchdowns. Alongside Robinson, the Falcons offense includes wide receiver Drake London, tight end Kyle Pitts and running back Tyler Allgeier. Atlanta also has talented weapons on defense, like Grady Jarrett, Jessie Bates III, and A.J. Terrell. Two of the team’s main issues last season, however, were the former coach Arthur Smith didn’t use his talented weapons to his full advantage, and the organization lacked an adequate starting quarterback.

One of the two issues has been addressed with the hiring of Raheem Morris, the franchise’s first full-time Black head coach. Morris was previously an interim coach for the Falcons in 2020.

Recently, rolling out had the opportunity to ask Robinson what he thought of the hire.

What are your thoughts on coach Raheem Morris coming back to Atlanta?

Man, I’m so excited, bro. Like, even just us having a conversation when he got hired was the coolest thing ever, but I can’t wait to play for that dude. He’s going to change the city for sure.
