Lizzo wants to set the record straight on why she didn’t appear in Jennifer Lopez’s recently released musical film, This Is Me … Now: A Love Story.

In a clip from Lopez’s accompanying Prime Video documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, staffers can be seen going through a list of possible celebrity cameos. The “Truth Hurts” singer is said to be “not available” to appear in the star-studded film when her name is brought up.

“Ain’t nobody told me nothing,” Lizzo said in a Tik Tok video. “Nobody asked me. J. Lo, I love you.”

Though Lizzo was absent from the project, a number of her celebrity contemporaries made the cut, including Fat Joe, Jenifer Lewis, Keke Palmer, Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Trevor Noah to name a few.

In one scene as Lopez and her team discuss some of the cameo offers they are waiting to hear back about, the “Get Right” singer empathizes with some of the celebs who seem to be on the fence about it.

“I don’t want to force anybody to do this who doesn’t go, ‘This is gonna be fun,’” Lopez says to her team. “Nobody wants to say ‘no’ to me … I get that. But when an actor doesn’t like a script or doesn’t think it’s good enough or is worried about it, that’s what they’ll say. I know that. I’ve done it.”

According to the documentary, the cameo wish list was more than double the final size and included such celebs as Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, Khloé Kardashian, Snoop Dogg and Taylor Swift.

“People [are] scared to put themselves out there. I get it,” Lopez laments. “Took me a long time. I’m scared.”

This Is Me … Now: A Love Story is currently streaming on Prime Video.
