DC Young Fly has another title to add to his résumé: Producer. The 31-year-old comedian and singer, who got his first big break on social media in the mid-2010s, made his producing debut as a co-producer in Mario Van Peebles’ latest independent film, Outlaw Posse.

“[Mario] allowed me to be a co-producer,” Fly said after an Atlanta screening of the movie. “So this is going to be my debut-producing movie in theaters. Coming from Atlanta’s West side, you dig what I’m saying? So, talk to me nice, b—-!”

Fly is also the host of “Celebrity Squares,” a game show hosted on VH1, for which he received a NAACP Image Award nomination. He also is a third of the immensely popular comedy trio, The 85 South Show. Fly is still a longstanding member of the cast of “Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘n Out.”

The creative shared his gratitude to Mario over social media, as well.

“Mario Van Peebles, thank you for being a pioneer in the game and being a great teacher,” Fly posted on Facebook.

Outlaw Posse, which stars Mario and his son Mandela Van Peebles, aims to accurately depict the Wild West because there were way more Black and Brown cowboys who existed versus what is usually portrayed in productions.

“It was just an honor, man, to be a part of a situation with you because we did a lot of unprecedented things,” Fly said to Mario at the screening. “You continue to still give us stuff to look at that is educational. If you were paying attention to the film, he left a lot of hope in the movie. Especially when we get the chance to tell our story or our truths, we always leave hope for another skin color. We always show room for love because God is love, even though we’re telling the truth that they took our s—, slaughtered us and tried to make us buy it back.”

Outlaw Posse is out now in theaters. The cast also features the legendary Whoopi Goldberg.

Fly also landed a feature on Domani’s song “Forever Lasting,” alongside Seddy Hendrinx.
