Mike Tyson is ready to return to the ring. The six-time heavyweight champion is making his return to boxing in a viral matchup against influencer-turned-fighter Jake Paul. The scheduled date is July 20 at AT&T Stadium — also known as Cowboy Stadium, in Arlington, Texas. The fight will be broadcast live globally on Netflix to its 260 million subscribers.

“He’s the greatest heavyweight of all time … the most vicious KO artist ever,” Paul posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on March 7 shortly after the fight was announced. “But I’m younger, I’m faster and I’m going to be working my a– off to get stronger. A member of my team sent me this video that Mike’s coach put up two weeks ago and asked me if I’m sure that I want to do this … yes, yes I do. Heavyweight.”

Tyson last fought in a November 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw.

Paul is now 9-1 in professional boxing career with six knockouts. His most recent fight was on March 2 in a first-round technical knockout of Ryan Bourland in Puerto Rico. His fight before that was also a first-round knockout — that time against Andre August — in December.

Paul and his brother, Logan, came to prominence as popular YouTubers throughout the 2010s. The brothers also started a social media collective called Team 10 and also built followings on other social media apps like Vine. Paul now has over 20 million YouTube subscribers with a majority of his uploads being related to his fighting career or documenting his latest lavish purchases.
