Sexyy Red has been called out by fans for her attempt at making a play on words with one of Donald Trump‘s famous campaign slogans.

During her Rolling Loud performance on March 15 in Los Angeles, Red had a large red hat that read “Make America Sexyy Again” on the stage. Her outfit was also based on the American flag.

One social media user, @WUNFIF on X, pointed out one awkward element of the set up.

“The acronym for that hat is deada– nuts,” he posted. “We’re living in an episode of ‘The Boondocks.’ I’m not even joking.”

Trump supporters have been recognized by his slogan’s acronym of Make America Great Again, MAGA, and Red’s hat prop has an acronym of “MASA.” Red, one of hip-hop’s more controversial modern figures, portrays a character as an entertaining, uncensored woman parading her liberation as someone who made it out of the low-income neighborhood of St. Louis. In flashes of interviews, Red gets vulnerable and said the rap version of her is only her in certain moments, and she’s really just a to-herself mom who wants to produce the best future for her children. Many people, including fellow rapper Dee-1, have taken issue to that approach, for the sake of the image she portrays on a mainstream level to the younger generation.

“[She’s] further solidifying her caricature,” X user @freedamind1 posted in response to the stage prop.

Red also went viral in the performance for playfully singing along to the “Rich Baby Daddy” sample.

On the topic of music, Red recently released her viral single, “Get It Sexyy,” which samples Hurricane Chris’ “Halle Berry (She’s Fine).”
