Three days before the LSU women’s basketball team takes the floor to begin its quest to defend its women’s college basketball national championship, star forward Angel Reese made an announcement on her Instagram Live: She’s now single.

Since shortly after the 2023 NCAA Tournament, Reese has been in a public relationship with Florida State men’s basketball guard Cam’Ron Fletcher until the announcement.

“Yeah, I’m single,” Reese said. “I ain’t got a man. No attachment to a man, that’s all I’m going to say. That’s it … I am single, but I am not ready to mingle. I’m just focusing on my college career; I’m focusing on school. That’s what I’m focusing on right now. I’m focused on me. I’m not focused on anybody else. I put my energy into too many people that don’t deserve my energy. I do what’s best for me.

“I’m the catch. Let’s not get it twisted.”

She also used the live to address the creepy AI-generated photos of her in an explicit fashion.

“I have an appeal to many people,” Reese said. “They just want to find weird ways to sexualize me, which is so weird because if I didn’t look the way I looked, y’all wouldn’t be doing this. And I’m Black. I’m Black, I’m pretty, I’m beautiful, I’m thick, I have an appeal, so they try to- you know? And y’all be grown men, like 50 years old. It’s weird.”

Reese won SEC Player of the Year honors after averaging 19 points and 13.1 rebounds per game for the Tigers this season.

No. 3 LSU hosts No. 14 Rice in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament on March 22 at 1 p.m.
