DaCarree ‘Mactruck’ Scott is bringing the 1st heavyweight fights to Overtime

Heavyweight fighting is coming to OTX

Heavyweight fighting is coming to OTX boxing this season, and DaCarree “Mactruck” Scott is the main reason for this.

Recently, the Atlanta native spoke to rolling out about bringing his weight class to the league.

What does being a part of this OTX roster mean to you?

It feels good to be a part of the roster.

I saw last time, they didn’t have any heavyweight bouts. So it’s going to be dope to be the first heavyweight bout that they’ve produced.

What do you think about the current state of the heavyweight division in professional boxing?

It’s in a good position.

We have [Oleksandr] Usyk and Tyson Fury coming up in May, so I’m looking forward to it. Heavyweight boxing’s back, and boxing is in a good position.

Why is heavyweight boxing back?

I can’t say it’s back up to the 80s or 90s, but it’s back to where everybody watches it. Like, you know who the heavyweight champion is now. Five years ago, six years ago, 10 years ago, no one knew who the heavyweight champion was if you were a casual fan of boxing.

Do you think it was the trilogy of [Deontay] Wilder and Fury?

Wilder did a great job of bringing the belt back and just making sure everybody knew who the champion was, but then Fury came and he beat him twice, but that’s all. Boxing’s just in a good position, especially heavyweight boxing.

Who were some of the heavyweight boxers you grew up watching?

James Toney, David Tua, Mike Tyson, a lot of them. I’m just a student of the game.

What is your fighting style?

I’m a boxer puncher like James Toney. I can box. I have power, but I can box also, so if you think I’m just going to come out and throw one big punch–naw. I can box. I can put them together. I can throw combinations. I’m pretty fast.

Do you like defense?

Yes, my defense is on point, for sure. I want to make sure I don’t get hit so I can stay decent.

How old are you?

I’m 25.

What was life like for you growing up?

It was the typical normal life. I knew boxing was my way out, so I took boxing seriously once I realized I wasn’t that good at football.

I told myself that I was going to try boxing and I was really good at it. And I can do it by myself… so it was perfect.

Why should people watch OTX this season?

It’s about to be a crazy card. There are going to be knockouts; it’s lit, man. We’ve got Haven, Oshae. You’ve got me, Elijah and plenty more.

It’s just the beginning.
