Social media was once again set ablaze by the treatment of lightning-rod player Angel Reese, who waved goodbye to an opponent after she fouled out of the game. However, Reese backers say the silence is deafening when a White player cussed out a ref when she was also disqualified from a game after committing her fifth foul.
Reese is incurring the wrath of conservative (read: White) Americans during March Madness when her LSU Tigers defeated Middle Tennessee, punctuated by what these critics deem is a “classless” and “trashy” when Reese signaled goodbye to her opponent as the vanquished foe wept off the court.

Many of the criticisms regarding Reese were filled with usual flagrantly racist tropes couched within the usual outrage that she would do such a thing.

Angel Reese gets all the rage, but nothing for the White Stanford player for her lack of decorum
There was, however, none of the same energy of discontent and disgust for Stanford’s Cameron Brink. She is a White player who appears to utter “f— you” at the referee after she was called for her fifth foul during her March 24 game. The Cardinals eventually overcame Brink’s absence to vanquish Iowa State in overtime and move on to the Sweet 16.

Nevertheless, the mostly White fanbase on X hurled their indignation at Reese, who merely interacted with another player and not with a game official.

Fans point out the hypocrisy of how White fans denigrate Reese but are silent about White players
Reese backers point out that the nation would have been ready to burn Reese — nicknamed “Bayou Barbie” — at the stakes had she cussed out a referee like Stanford’s Brink did.
“Let Angel Reese do this and she’s a classless thug. Cameron Brink really been getting outplayed by Kiki Iriafen past couple of months, too. Same story this game,” one fan wrote.
“Angel Reese does something she’s classless a thug, but Caitlin Clark was having a tantrum and Cameron Brink told a ref f— you — [and] everybody quiet. Y’all hate Angel so bad and it shows with y’all nasty racist comments. But don’t have that same energy for CC or Cam Brink,” one fan added.
