Phaedra Parks, Keke Wyatt, Mama Dee, and several notable Atlanta celebrities supported their friend Frederick “FreddyO” Anderson at the funeral of his beloved grandmother Edith J. Linsey who died on March 14, 2024. Her funeral took place at the West Mitchell CME Church in Atlanta on March 24, 2024.
Edith J. Linsey was a staple of her community in the heart of Atlanta for many years. She ran a daycare center and had a hand in raising kids in the neighborhood who are now adults with children and grandchildren of their own.
FreddyO shared many memories with the family matriarch on social media that kept his 200K plus followers well entertained. Many will miss the laughs of her fussing at Freddy in full grandma mode. If you ever met Mrs. Lindsey in person, she had many stories about the days of growing up in Atlanta during segregation and could tell you about the marches when Dr. Martin Luther King was alive and how she witnessed the many changes and accomplishments of Black people in Atlanta firsthand.
Cynthia Anderson (daughter of Edith Linsey) and mother of FreddyO was elated with how well the planning of the funeral went and gushed about how elaborate her son set up the repast with the help of his close friends.
“This is what FreddyO does, he makes sure any event he touches is a class act, from the decor down to the menu,” stated Mama O.
There was plenty of fresh fruit, dessert items, racks of lamb, chicken tenders, baked chicken, Paras’ famous macaroni and cheese, green beans, baked beans, mashed potatoes, greens, cornbread, dinner rolls, rice, and to-go plates for everyone. Mrs. Lindsey was loved by many and known for her family and friend gatherings for her birthday parties and holiday dinners.
Mrs. Linsey lived a long and fulfilling life pouring love and care into so many people in the community. It was amazing to see so many friends and family paying it forward by attending the celebration of life. May we remember God’s promise in Revelations 21:3-5 and hope to see Mrs. Linsey again in paradise.
