Brian McKnight’s upcoming concert in Detroit has been canceled ostensibly because he called his biological children “evil” and the “product of sin.”

Ever since the concert was announced on Facebook on April 23 that the Seventh Day Adventist and “Anytime” singer would stop off at the MotorCity Casino Hotel, fans assailed the FB page en masse with vehement criticisms. They also took offense that McKnight does not recognize any of his three biological children but heaped effusive praise on his one stepdaughter.

Music fans express their outrage at Brian McKnight

“He might as well retire,” one person barked, while another penned, “Wouldn’t even go for free.” A third mentioned that attendance would require McKnight to make amends for disowning his children, while a fourth took offense that the concert would have taken place in proximity to Father’s Day.

Huffington Post reporter Phillip Lewis, who’d been following the turn of events, announced the concert, scheduled for June 9, had been canceled on May 3. Phillips added that many fans were “crucifying” McKnight over his inflammatory and triggering comments made on his Instagram page.

Brian McKnight’s ex-wife calls him ‘a liar’

McKnight’s ex-wife Julie McKnight is also accused of not supporting his son, Niko, who is battling stage 4 cancer in the hospital. The singer denies the accusations and said his efforts to help have been blocked.

“I can only imagine that if that help came from me, that it would go against the strong narrative that’s being pushed out there about me,” McKnight said on Instagram Live. “So what are we doing? We’re adhering to her wishes because that’s what she wanted and we’re staying out of it.”

Julie McKnight told Page Six that her ex-husband’s explanation is a “false statement,” and called him “a liar.”
