Black women sauntered and sashayed into fashion lore on the expansive green carpet at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday, May 6.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Fifth Avenue in New York was transformed into a veritable bouquet of brilliant colors and awe-inspiring outfits by many of the biggest icons in America.

The 2024 Met Gala was a celebration of creativity and fashion expression

Cardi B marveled fans with her larger-than-life monochromatic black gown from Windowsen. The outfit was so expansive that it needed nine men to help her walk the green carpet in front of the battery of photographers.

Angel Reese, 22, fresh out of the 2024 WNBA Draft and about to embark on her rookie season, rocked a 16Arlington dress by Marco Capaldo’s seafoam green mini dress with feathers. TMZ also reported that the “Bayou Barbie” stunned with her accoutrements that included a diamond bar grill made of white gold and VVS diamonds.

Meanwhile, multi-hyphenate entertainment powerhouse Lena Waithe was relatively low-key with her black leather floral suit, given the occasion.

Nicki Minaj was draped in a florescent yellow mini dress punctuated by floral patterns and painted multi-colored 3D metal flowers. She completed the look with shoes that featured mini flowers and jewels.

Zendaya devastated onlookers with her Maison Margiela frock that was styled by the renowned Law Roach, featuring whimsical florals in deep blue and regal green hues.

If anything, Doja Cat was very conspicuous at the Met Gala because she rocked a long T-shirt that clashed with the colorful backdrop.
