We’re getting our first look at “Emperor of Ocean Park,” the highly anticipated new series from MGM+ starring Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker.

The high-stakes political drama centers on Whitaker’s character, Oliver Garland, a powerful judge whose mysterious death unravels a whole new set of questions, especially for his law professor son, Talcott Garland (Grantham Coleman), and his former journalist daughter, Mariah (Tiffany Mack), who also happens to be a conspiracy theory sleuth. In their quest to find the truth about their father’s death, a complicated web of truth, lies, and politics is revealed, and almost everyone involved seems to be implicit.

In addition to Whitaker, Coleman, and Mack, the main cast is rounded out by Henry Simmons, Bryan Greenberg, Jasmine Batchelor, and Paulina Lule. Guest stars already lined up for the season include Keith Powers, Deanna Reed-Foster, Kelli Simpkins, and Keith Kupferer

“Emperor of Ocean Park” debuts on MGM+ on July 14 on MGM+.
