As the 2024 Paris Olympics wind down, Simone Biles candidly shares her experiences and challenges in a recent TikTok video. The 27-year-old gymnastics icon revealed that her body is feeling the strain of competition and expressed her fatigue.

Feeling the strain

In her Get Ready With Me video, Biles admitted she feels like her body is starting to shut down. In the video, which was filmed before the women’s gymnastics finals, she expressed her excitement for the events despite her exhaustion.

A journey of resilience

Biles took a moment to express gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support throughout her career, from the 2016 Rio Olympics to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, culminating in her current journey in Paris. She reflected on her achievements, stating that she’s achieved more than her wildest dreams.

Overcoming trauma

Addressing her past struggles, Biles opened up about the trauma she experienced during the Tokyo Olympics, particularly with a phenomenon known as the twisties. This condition causes gymnasts to lose spatial awareness in the air, posing significant risks during routines. Biles’ experience led her to withdraw from competitions, prompting her to seek therapy and take a two-year break from gymnastics.

Support and recovery

Reflecting on her journey, Biles never thought she would step on a gymnastics floor again because of everything that happened. However, with the help of her coaches and therapist, she worked diligently to regain her confidence and mental well-being.

Achievements in Paris

Biles recently completed her redemption tour at the Paris Olympics, earning silver in the beam and floor exercise finals while also bringing home three gold medals. Her journey is an inspiring reminder of resilience and the importance of mental health in sports.

As she continues to compete, Biles remains a powerful figure in gymnastics, advocating for mental health awareness and the importance of seeking help. Her story resonates with many, especially within the Black community, highlighting the strength and determination needed to overcome adversity.
