Tina Knowles has officially settled her divorce from Richard Lawson, and the terms of their separation have come to light.
Details of the divorce settlement
According to a report by In Touch Weekly, court documents reveal that Knowles and Lawson cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, stating it led to an “irremediable breakdown” of their marriage. This agreement made it impossible for them to continue living together as husband and wife.
As part of the settlement, Tina Knowles retained several significant assets, including: a 2018 Tesla, a 2020 Bentley, a book deal with Penguin Random House, a 1% interest in Kirby Beauty Management LLC and furniture and artwork created during the marriage.
On the other hand, Richard Lawson was awarded: a 2021 Cadillac Escalade, multiple bank and retirement accounts, payments owed to Richard Lawson Studios and creative works generated during their marriage.
Financial obligations and non-disparagement clause
The settlement also outlines financial responsibilities. Tina Knowles will pay off any credit cards in her name and cover all outstanding household expenses. Richard Lawson will handle his credit card debt and the debt related to his Cadillac Escalade. Additionally, he will receive a one-time payment of $300,000 from Knowles.
Importantly, the couple agreed to a non-disparagement clause, which prohibits them from speaking negatively about each other or their families, including their grandchildren. The settlement emphasizes the mutual desire to protect the privacy of their grandchildren.
Background on their relationship
Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson were married in April 2015, with a star-studded ceremony attended by celebrities like Samuel L. Jackson. Their separation date is noted as July 25, 2023, with Knowles filing for divorce the following day. Despite the split, Lawson expressed a desire to remain open to love in a recent interview.
While neither party has issued a formal statement regarding their divorce, the details of their settlement provide insight into their amicable separation.
