Recording artist Juicy J, a prominent figure from the legendary Memphis hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia, has made waves with his latest release, a jazz-infused hip-hop album titled Ravenite Social Club. This album features collaborations with notable artists such as Cordae, Grammy winner Robert Glasper and Emi Seacrest.

The album’s title pays homage to a historic New York City venue located at 247 Mulberry Street in Little Italy, rumored to be a mob hangout frequented by figures like John Gotti.

This marks Juicy J’s second album release of the year, following Mental Trillness 2, which dropped on May 21. The album includes a poignant track and video titled “To You,” featuring Glasper and Seacrest, dedicated to his late group mate, Gangsta Boo, who tragically died earlier this year.

Three 6 Mafia’s legacy

Three 6 Mafia, formed in 1991, has been a significant force in hip-hop, with members including DJ Paul, Koopsta Knicca, Crunchy Black, Lord Infamous and Gangsta Boo. Their debut album, Mystic Stylez, released in 1995, laid the groundwork for their influential sound.

Sampling success

In a recent interview on Springhill’s podcast, “Two Ways About It,” Juicy J revealed that he earns a substantial income from music samples of Three 6 Mafia’s work. He says that he loves it when people sample, and approves it every time.

Future projects

Last year, Juicy J announced his ambitious plan to release seven albums in 2024. He humorously noted on social media, “I never worked this hard in my life. After this, I’m gonna buy a house on the beach, let my hair grow all the way out & become a full-time hippie.”
