Tia Mowry finds it tough to juggle dating and the responsibilities of motherhood.
The 46-year-old actress, who was married to Cory Hardrict between 2008 and 2023, has opened up about her concerns during a heart-to-heart conversation with Jackee Harry, the actress who played her on-screen mom in “Sister, Sister.”
“Working, being a mother and just putting a lot of effort into dating right now is a lot to juggle and balance, and I can’t help but wonder if I am repeating the same mistake now,” Mowry said on “Tia Mowry: My Next Act.”
Harry, 68, admitted to being aware of Mowry’s relationship troubles before she split from Hardrict.
“I did know from the other side, if I might say, somebody else was dissatisfied that they weren’t working,” Harry said. “One partner makes more money or has more successful is a gap that is so hard and they can’t work. You can’t have competition. It just does not work.”
Born in Germany to military parents, Mowry began her journey in the entertainment industry alongside her twin sister, Tamera. They started in commercials and beauty pageants before landing their breakthrough roles. Their determination and natural talent eventually led them to Hollywood, where they would make their mark on television history with their hit show “Sister, Sister.”
Tia Mowry found time to graduate Pepperdine
While maintaining her acting career, Tia demonstrated her commitment to personal growth by pursuing higher education, graduating from Pepperdine University with a degree in psychology. This achievement notably came while balancing filming schedules and public appearances.
Her success extends beyond acting, having won an NAACP Image Award for her role in “Sister, Sister” and later starring in the hit BET series “The Game.” Tia has also established herself as a multi-faceted entrepreneur, launching both a supplement company called Anser and a haircare line, “4U by Tia.”
Her commitment to healthy living led to the publication of her cookbook “Whole New You,” which became a bestseller and showcased her expertise in clean eating and nutritious meal planning. She’s built a strong digital presence with her YouTube channel, amassing over 850,000 subscribers.
Sharing health concerns to benefit other women
In recent years, Tia has become an advocate for endometriosis awareness, sharing her personal experiences to help other women. Her work in television has continued with appearances in various Lifetime and Hallmark Channel movies, demonstrating her versatility as an actress.
The actress has been vocal about representation in media, speaking about her experiences as a woman of color in Hollywood and working through her production company to develop diverse content. Her influence extends beyond entertainment, as she regularly speaks about balancing career success with motherhood and personal wellness.
In 2022, Tia took to social media to announce her split from Hardrict.
At the time, the actress — who has Cree, 13, and Cairo, 6, with her ex-husband — promised that they would “maintain a friendship.”
Alongside a black-and-white photograph of them together, she wrote: “I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
Throughout her evolution from child star to established actress and entrepreneur, Tia continues to inspire many who face similar challenges in managing career, family, and personal life while in the public eye.
