Jamie Foxx treasures every day following his mystery hospitalization last year. The Oscar-winning actor has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Grammy Award.

“This is my mantra … After surviving something that I thought I would never go through … My good friend James, who also happens to be my manager, gave me this phrase … I live by it now… when you come through the darkness, the light looks brighter.”

The Django Unchained actor was hospitalized in April last year due to an unspecified health condition, and revealed he now “lives by” the mantra “No Bad Dayz” after surviving. During his career, Foxx has demonstrated remarkable versatility, successfully transitioning between drama, comedy, action, and music. His role in Django Unchained earned him widespread critical acclaim and solidified his position as one of Hollywood’s most versatile performers.

Sharing the slogan on Instagram, Jamie’s message resonated deeply with his 16.7 million followers, sparking a wave of support from fans and fellow celebrities alike. His Instagram post received over 2 million likes within 24 hours, demonstrating the immense impact of his recovery story. The post became one of the most engaged celebrity health updates of the year.

“I’m gonna do it in a funny way.” The 56-year-old star went on to thank his fans who had kept him in their thoughts and prayers during his illness, before ending with a plug for his upcoming Netflix special, “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was … “ which premieres on Dec. 10 and is expected to see him discuss his medical issues. The Netflix special marks Foxx’s return to comedy after focusing on dramatic roles in recent years. Early reviews suggest it will be one of Netflix’s most-watched comedy specials of the season.

“And while I’m at it I want to say thank you to everyone that sent up a prayer — I needed it. And if you need a spiritual tuneup right now, take a listen to Commissioned’s [song] TIS SO SWEET.” His gratitude extends beyond his fans to the medical team that helped save his life. The incident has sparked important conversations about health awareness in the entertainment industry. Medical professionals have praised his openness about seeking immediate medical attention.

“I don’t remember anything … my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot. The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there.'” While Foxx has yet to discuss his health scare in detail, a video emerged in July of the Ray actor telling fans he had been hit with a “bad headache” on April 11 and “asked my boy for an Advil” – leading to him being “gone for 20 days.” This mysterious health crisis led to the temporary suspension of several high-profile projects, including the film Back in Action with Cameron Diaz, which had an estimated budget of $150 million.

Foxx said in March he was going to address the incident on stage at an African American Film Critics Association awards luncheon. His appearance at the event marked one of his first public appearances since the health scare, drawing significant media attention and support from the entertainment community. The event was attended by numerous industry luminaries who showed their support.

The actor’s recovery journey has inspired many in Hollywood and beyond. His commitment to maintaining privacy while dealing with serious health issues has been praised by industry professionals and has set a precedent for how public figures can handle personal crises with dignity. Mental health advocates have particularly commended his approach to recovery.

Throughout his recovery, Foxx has continued to work on various projects, demonstrating his incredible work ethic and dedication to his craft. His resilience has earned him additional respect in an industry known for its demanding nature. Several upcoming projects are already in pre-production, showing his determination to return to work.
