Black Comedy in America explores Eddie Murphy and comedy’s roots at 9PM ET/PT

VICE TV’s back-to-back episodes delve into Eddie Murphy’s rise to fame and the cultural origins of Black comedy. Tune in Tuesday, November 26, at 9PM ET/PT.

Black Comedy in America” airs Tuesday nights on VICE and offers a definitive look at the history and impact of America’s most prolific Black comedians. Tuesday, November 26 features back-to-back episodes. At 9PM ET/PT an Eddie Murphy-themed episode features his emergence as a force on SNL, his raw and boundary-pushing standup, and his rise to A-list movie star status. Interviews include JB Smoove, Tracy Morgan and others. The night’s second episode, airing at 10PM ET/PT follows the origin story of Black comedy including slave tradition, the chitlin circuit, racial stereotypes, Jim Crow segregation on the road, and breakout triumphs. Tommy Davidson, Tim Reid, W. Kamau Bell and others are featured.
