When it comes to women in sports, it doesn’t get much better than Elle Duncan. She’s one of the faces of ESPN, and one-third of the Big Three. She’s eloquent, funny and unapologetic, and her takes hit like a sack from Myles Garrett — ask New York Giants’ fans. She’s the best of what journalism has to offer, and she took some time talk some sports with rolling out.
Which HBCU has the best homecoming?
Well, I’m born and raised in Atlanta, and I don’t think anything beats Morehouse-Spelman homecoming — maybe it’s because I’ve been to so many of them. That was the first time I ever hung out with my husband was at Spelman-Morehouse Homecoming. So, yeah, I want to give it to us right here. I mean, the AUC Center — like, there’s nothing like it when everybody is together.
Who is more likely to go to Golden State: LeBron James or Jimmy Butler?
Honestly, I think LeBron’s finally starting to slow down a little bit. What I will say is Jimmy Buckets is one of the best closers. And, like, obviously, he’s not a better closer than LeBron, but he’s one of the best closers there is. His biggest issue is staying healthy right now. And so, for a team that only probably would need to utilize him in the postseason, I think Jimmy Buckets totally works there. He brings you some defense as well. But if you could team LeBron James up with Steph Curry — for what I do for a living in the media — our minds would be blown. It’s never gonna happen, even if I could see Jimmy leaving [for Golden State]. LeBron’s not leaving his son in LA to go to Golden State; it is not happening — you heard it here first. And if it does, I’ll call myself an idiot on television.
Will Shedeur Sanders be good as a New York Giant?
Giants fans are so angry at me, but I know I was right. I stated categorical facts [about Daniel Jones]: $105 million, one playoff win. The Giants would be so lucky to have Shedeur. Now, they need to shore up that offensive line. The good news for Shedeur is that — especially last year — Colorado has not exactly been known for their stout offensive line. So, he’s used to having to scramble a little bit, and obviously he’s wiggly and … can move and all those things. They would need to get him a couple of more weapons, but I think he would thrive in New York. And I think there is no family made more for a major market like New York than the Sanders primetime family — absolutely.
