Caleb Pickens thrives as Cricket Wireless Ambassador at JSU

Caleb Pickens cherishes his experience as a Cricket Wireless HBCU Campus Ambassador before matriculating through Jackson State University and entering law school.

CAP is a program that gives students from historically Black colleges and universities the opportunity to represent the Cricket brand on their campuses. The program also helps students develop marketing skills and business acumen.

Pickens credits the ambassadorship for accelerating his upward trajectory in life in terms of networking, travel, unique experiences and professional development which is helping to prepare him for the next chapter in his life.

“This ambassadorship has helped me grow so much,” Pickens exclaimed to rolling out. “This ambassadorship has grown so much in college opportunities, and they’ve helped me give back to my community in Jackson. This ambassadorship has really molded me into the leader I am today, And I was given the opportunity to travel two times a year to the MEAC versus SWAC, and then also the Celebration Bowl. Those things are very important to me.”

Students talked bout how the CAP exposed them to their peers in the community and around the country and connected students with their personal passions.

Pickens, a senior at JSU, added that what he is most grateful for is how the Ambassador Program helped ensure the participants’ growth as a person and student, which is why he recommends others to enter the program.

‘I would recommend with people getting into the ambassador program for picking is making sure that your resume is up to date, making sure that your content is there,” Pickens said. “Also knowing that no matter what, just keep on going. This program will open up so many doors.”
