The mother of NFL star receiver Tee Higgins reportedly ripped into the Cincinnati Bengals after the team indicated it may put the “franchise tag” on him.

As it stands now, Higgins made $21.8 million in 2024-25, and if the team puts the franchise tag on him — what teams use to bind one free agent a year to them for one season by paying him a guaranteed non-negotiated salary — for the second consecutive year, he’d be due a raise and earn $26 million in 2025-26, according to Pro Sports Network.
The Bengals are in a conundrum, because they also have to give a bag to marquee receiver Ja’Marr Chase, considered the best receiver in football. Chase won the “triple crown” this past season as he led all NFL receivers in yards (1,708), catches (127) and touchdown receptions (17), a rare accomplishment.
Tee Higgins and his mom want a long-term contract
It is widely believed that Higgins is worth more than a one-year deal and his mother, Lady Stewart, believes he deserves a long-term, multiyear contract.
On Monday, the Daily Mail and ESPN reported that the Bengals want to slap the franchise tag on Higgins. This would buy more time to negotiate a long-term contract extension the following season. It would, however, prevent Higgins getting closer to the $30 million-per-year contract Higgins and his mother believes he has earned.

That decision incited outrage from Stewart, who took to X to cryptically call the Bengals “selfish b——” in a post. To be sure, Stewart did not name anyone in the post, but the Daily Mail stated that her scathing words were aimed at the Bengals.
No word yet from the Bengals or Higgins and how this could impact immediate contract negotiations.
Tee Higgins’ mother is never scared to mix it up
Higgins mother has previously proven that she can become prickly when provoked. During a terse exchange with a fan on X, the man audaciously told her that her son “can’t catch a ball to save his life.”
She responded by flaming the robust man to a crisp with the retort, “And yo fat a– can’t catch your breath.”
It cannot be said that Stewart did not warn fans about spewing toxicity on her page because she’s ready for the smoke.
“Warning,” Stewart penned recently. “Don’t eva eva eva come on my ish talking trash cos I’m coming for ur head.”
She also said in another post that “I don’t care about the negativity y’all posting on here, that ish don’t bother me.”
