DDG fired off on a music fan who claimed the rapper was using his son to score points with the fans and keep his name on the pop culture radar.
Recently, the former boyfriend of Halle Bailey — with whom he shares 1-year-old son Halo — gathered a fan who believes the “Moonwalking in Calabasas” emcee is exploiting the child for clout.
DDG is weary of fans questioning his motives
Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., 27, explained that parents show off their kids and grandkids all the time, but fans have a problem with him doing the same thing because he is famous, rich and handsome — the things they are not.
“All parents do the same s–t. If you look at my momma Instagram all her kids on there,” he explained to the troll. “Why y’all ain’t cancel her? If you look at my dad Instagram… all his kids. Why y’all don’t cancel my parents?”
Continuing, DDG added, “But when I do it, because I’m one of the most FAMOUS, most lit, most richest Black creators in the ENTIRE world … it’s a problem when I do it though, right?”
Some fans come to DDG’s defense
Fans backed DDG, saying that he is a grown man who can decide to do whatever he wants.
“It’s HIS son!! He can do whatever he wants,” one writes. “Sir you have completely missed the plot,” someone else says.
Others are questioning whether or not Halo’s mother, Halle Bailey, receives similar comments.
DDG called out Halle Bailey over Halo
During a livestream last month, DDG called out the Little Mermaid actress, accusing his ex-girlfriend of preventing him from seeing their son as much as he’d like to.
“I really feel like I’m a f–king nanny at this point,” he said at the time. “The nanny has been able to have my son more than me.”
After the rant was posted, DDG returned a few days later to inform his nearly 7 million Instagram followers that he was granted time to spend with Halo.
“I talked to my son this morning. All you parasocials, y’all can stop y’all thinkpieces now,” he barked. “I talked to my son today, we’re good […] Can y’all stop saying, ‘Free Halo?’ Halo is free, y’all.”
