Racial profiling has become so rampant that Black officers are being stopped because of the color their skin. According to a report by The Journal News, four Black parole officers were stopped and held at gunpoint in Ramapo, New York.

Parole officers Mario Alexandre, Sheila Penister, Annette Thomas-Paine and Samuel Washington were leaving Suffern, New York,  when they were pulled over by five White police officers. The police were responding to a call from a resident who saw four Black people wearing bulletproof vests in an unmarked vehicle.

Once the White officers stopped the Black parole officers, they aimed guns and assault rifles at them. The Black parole officers told the police officers that they were part of law enforcement, but once officer suggested that their badges were fake.

After six minutes of holding the Black officers at gunpoint, the police officers finally discovered that they were part of law enforcement.

The Black officers were released without being arrested, but they were told that a courtesy call should have been made to the police department. However, there is no law that requires such action.

The Black officers have filed a lawsuit against Ramapo police and are requesting compensation and an implementation of more training for the police officers.

Ramapo is a town of 11,000 citizens that is 79 percent White and 4 percent Black.

This is another case that proves racial profiling is a crisis in America. If Black law enforcement officers can be victims, nearly every Black person in America is in danger.
