As you probably know by now, the two men are brothers Dzokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev who were born near Chechnya, Russia and have been in the U.S. since 2001, according to their uncle.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, is a man on the loose, while his older brother, Tamerlan, 26, was killed earlier this morning during a shoot-out with the police in Watertown, Mass., an eastern suburb of Boston — and possibly run over by his younger brother as he tried to escape, according to NBC News.
Dzhokhar is a student at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and was seen there this week after the bombings according to WCVB.
The father of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Anzor Tsarnaev, told the media that his son is an “accomplished medical student” and “a true angel”, AP reports. The father spoke to the news agency from the city of Makhachkala, capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan, shortly after police said his other son, 26-year-old Tamerlan, had been killed in a shootout.
One of the brothers is said to have a Massachusetts drivers’ license, an NBC report claims. The brothers’ uncle has confirmed to AP that the men lived together in Cambridge. Some reports say the two may have arrived in the US from Turkey and have Turkish citizenship.
Here is much more information on the brothers, replete with photos of the two brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarneav.
