In some circles, beautiful, society, “party people” have characterized cocaine as the fuel of the night life. Cocaine, at about $100 a gram, (the average price of crack cocaine is about $25), delivers a powerful euphoric effect, a combination of adrenaline, sexiness and invincibility.
Add alcohol to the mix – as many party people do – and these euphoric feelings linger.
What these all-night party people may not know is that the combination of drugs and alcohol creates cocathylene in the body, the No. 1 cause of drug-related death.
Here then is a list of 20 people, snuffed out in the prime of their lives, because of one party drug too many.
Read and take heed.
20. Donyele Luna, Supermodel, 1945 – 1979
Donyale Luna, considered to be one of the first supermodels of color, lived in a shroud of secrecy. Born Peggy Ann Freeman in Detroit, Luna s drug of choice, she once said, was LSD: “I think it’s great. I learned that I like to live, I like to make love, I really do love somebody, I love flowers, I love the sky, I like bright colors, I like animals. [LSD] also showed me unhappy things – that I was stubborn, selfish, unreasonable, mean, that I hurt other people.”
Donyale Luna died in a clinic in Rome, after a drug overdose.
