Willow and Jaden Smith have grown up under the glare of the spotlight. The teenage son and daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have drawn a lot of attention throughout the past few years as stars in their own right, releasing music and starring in films, as well as displaying a free-spiritedness that seems to make a lot of people uncomfortable. The siblings gave an interview to the New York Times this week, during which they discussed prana energy, babies’ soft spots and why school doesn’t exist. But for just the juiciest tidbits–here are eight of the most awesome quotes from Willow and Jaden.
8: JADEN: “I have a goal to be just the most craziest person of all time. And when I say craziest, I mean, like, I want to do like Olympic-level things. I want to be the most durable person on the planet.”
If your goal is to be the “most craziest” person of all time, kid, I’d say your future is pretty bright.
7: JADEN: “It’s proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It’s relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year. And if you are unaware, your whole childhood, your whole life can pass by in six seconds. But it’s also such a thing that you can get lost in.
WILLOW: “Because living.”
Wow…deep.
6:JADEN: “Think about how many car accidents happen every day. Driver’s ed? What’s up? I still haven’t been to driver’s ed because if everybody I know has been in an accident, I can’t see how driver’s ed is really helping them out.”
I hope somebody has been behind the wheel with this kid, though.
5: WILLOW: “I like to go to places with my high-fashion things where there are a lot of cameras. So I can just go there and be like, “Yep, yep, I’m looking so sick.” But in my regular life, I put on clothes that I can climb trees in.”
Kinda like everybody…
4: JADEN: “Kids who go to normal school are so teenagery, so angsty.”
Way to connect with the fans, J.
3: WILLOW: “Me and Jaden just figured out that our voices sound like chocolate together. As good as chocolate tastes, it sounds that good.”
What?
2: WILLOW: “The feeling of being like, this is a fragment of a holographic reality that a higher consciousness made.”
What?!
1: JADEN: “Exactly. Because your mind has a duality to it. So when one thought goes into your mind, it’s not just one thought, it has to bounce off both hemispheres of the brain. When you’re thinking about something happy, you’re thinking about something sad. When you think about an apple, you also think about the opposite of an apple. It’s a tool for understanding mathematics and things with two separate realities. But for creativity: That comes from a place of oneness. That’s not a duality consciousness. And you can’t listen to your mind in those times — it’ll tell you what you think and also what other people think.”
WILLOW: “And then you think about what you think, which is very dangerous.”
Wow. Those might’ve been the greatest words ever uttered. These kids are being encouraged to express themselves in a free and open environment and that’s very, very cool. So what if no one really knows what they’re talking about — it sounds cool. And I think we all could learn a thing or two from Willow and Jaden. But you shouldn’t care what I think. And never, ever think about what you think.
