The Hollywood and entertainment genres are treacherous terrain for any prepubescent to navigate. Most child stars are tragically half-devoured before they reach maturation and then the public consumes stories of their awkward, often tragic, transition into adulthood where sustained fame mostly proves elusive. Even when they become as big — or even bigger stars — as full grown men and women (like the one above), their mental health is greatly compromised in the process without a stable home environment.
Part of the reason is the fact that children and adolescents are hardly equipped sufficiently to deal with the vultures at the workplace and then have to come home to deal with the opportunistic parents at home. Their narrow shoulders cannot carry their parents who often do much more than live vicariously through them; they often live off of them and through them and, in many cases, exploit their own children to fulfill their own selfish quests.
