Is Katt Williams' violence due to bipolar disorder?

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to watch a tragic and disturbing train wreck, look no further than troubled comedian Katt Williams. Over the past few months, the comedian has acted out countless violent attacks and has been arrested several times. And most recently, Williams beat an audience member with a microphone. But is Williams just a violent man or is the root of the problem deeper than it appears.

On Dec. 7, Williams was performing at Paramount Theater in Seattle when he discovered that an audience member was recording his routine. In a rage, Williams walked over to the man and whipped him in the head with his microphone, before returning to the stage to continue his show.

TMZ recently released a video of the beating and after his attack, Williams can be seen telling the audience, “It could happen to you. Record me and see what happens to you. Go home and get your raggedy pistol and bring it back. I already got mine.”

With no end in sight to Williams’ erratic and violent behavior, many are wondering what has gone wrong with Williams, and even rapper Snoop Dogg has claimed that Williams needs help. And, according to a friend of Williams, Snoop is actually right.

Popular blogger NecoleBitchie recently received an email from an alleged former member of Williams’ team. Despite rumors that Williams’ behavior is fueled by an addiction to drugs, the woman claims that Williams’ string of violence is actually due to him having bipolar disorder.

“I know his girlfriend (who needs just as much help as he does) searches for this stuff online and shows it to him. Katt has outcasted EVERYONE who cares about him for trying to help him,” said the anonymous source. “He is NOT on drugs which is what the public thinks.  Katt was diagnosed Bi-Polar Schizophrenic back in 2008 after he did a two week stretch in the mental institution.”

“If you do your research as to when things start happening with him every year it’s around the same time. Oct – Jan he is in a MANIC DEPRESSIVE state and he is not on any meds,” she added. “Don’t get me wrong he’s mentally ill 365 days a year however starting around October and ending around January he goes through SERIOUS trouble.  There is NO ONE around him who will get him any help.”

If the woman’s claims are true, we hope that Williams will soon get the proper treatment to deal with his disorder. And he is not alone. Check out some other stars with bipolar disorder below. – nicholas robinson
