Kim Kardashian quitting reality TV

Kim Kardashian quitting reality TV

Kim Kardashian is not only the queen of the Kardashian clan, she’s the current queen of reality TV, having spent the last six years as the face of the Kardashian family’s omnipresent reality shows and becoming arguably the biggest reality TV star in history. Although the show has provided her with superstardom — and checks worth $40 million — the reigning Kardashian says she’s ready to leave reality TV behind.

In her cover story for DuJour magazine, in which she flaunts her baby bump for the first time, Kardashian told the magazine that the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” show has been “truly, the best family movie ever,” but she doesn’t plan on returning after season nine, which will begin filming soon and air in the fall. Kardashian says that her boyfriend, Kanye West, encouraged her to make the decision to leave.

“I’m ready to be a little less open about some things, like my relationships. I’m realizing everyone doesn’t need to know everything,” said Kardashian, obviously referencing her failed 72-day marriage to NBA star Kris Humphries, which played out on her reality shows.

“Going through a divorce for anybody is devastating and heartbreaking, and then to have to do it and feel like you have to explain what is happening is such an awkward thing,” Kardashian said.

Kardashian said she’s now thinking about life after reality TV.

“I think there’s always an evolution of, you know, what you want to do in life. It’s all about finding things that really excite you and motivate you and spark you all over again,” she explained. “I’m realizing that no matter what, if you go into something with all these expectations and plans, once you’re actually living it, it could be completely different.”

However, after her interview hit the Web, Kardashian spoke to Celebuzz and explained that she plans to remain with the show for at least two more seasons.

“As everyone knows, we are extremely proud of the show and all of us are staying on through at least season 10. The show remains my number one priority and it’s a big part of my life and I enjoy every moment of it,” says Kardashian.

Well, it looks like Kardashian’s not leaving her bread and butter anytime soon, especially not when it’s contractually binding $40 million bread and butter. But she’s not the only celebreality star that’s at least wanted to leave reality TV  behind. Check out some major reality TV departures below. –nicholas robinson
