Name: Megan Holston
Pageant Title: Miss Black Texas USA 2012
Years Active in Pageants: 7
College: Clark Atlanta University Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and University of Houston Masters of Sociology
How did you get started in pageants?
My first pageant was the Montgomery County Junior Miss Pageant my senior year of high school. I initially wanted to be involved because several of my friends were participating and I ended up actually enjoying it. So from there, I continued in pageantry through college.
Why did you choose children’s health as your platform?
I chose to champion children’s health and fighting childhood obesity because I’ve had a personal battle with weight and I think it is so important for children to get outside and be active. Hopefully, with the national title of Miss Black USA I will be able to continue my “Losing to win” platform and reach more children nationwide.
How can your fans help you bring home the title?
People can support Team Texas by voting in the Miss Black USA’s People Choice competition. Just log onto the Miss Black USA website and look for Miss Black Texas USA, then click vote under my picture. Fans can also help me prepare for the Miss Black USA Pageant by donating money to my go fund me Megan Holston website.
What special projects do you have coming up?
I will be hosting The Miss Black Texas USA Boot Camp on July 7, 2012 from 10 a.m. to noon at the University of Houston, University Center – Bluebonnet Room. Workshops will be conducted by Ms. Black Texas 2012 D’Antese McNeil, former Miss Black Texas USA 2011 Savannah Williams and former titleholder and coach for Miss USA and Miss America, Miss Black Texas USA Pageant Coach Alicia Venzant.
