Broadcast journalist and philanthropist, Soledad O’Brien along with her husband, Brad Raymond, started the Starfish Foundation with the premise to help young women of color achieve success. Standing on the three pillars of education, advocacy and impact, the Starfish foundation “provide[s] hardworking young women with the resources necessary to succeed.” The young women (of color and/or low-income) take part in civic activities, receive scholarships and, most importantly, are provided with a network of support.
In New York, O’Brien, along with Tatyana Ali, Ledisi and Allan Houston, celebrated the fourth annual gala for the Starfish Foundation with sponsorship from Cover Girl and American Family Insurance.
