Designer Rachel Roy has been hit with the news that her high-end women’s wear and accessory line will no longer be in production. Despite an impressive show at New York Fashion Week last month and more than a decade of success in the fashion game, Roy’s partner, The Jones Group, who held a 50 percent stake in Roy’s business, has decided to pull the plug on Roy, stating that the collection is not in line with their overall strategy.
The Jones Group, however, will “continue to support” her contemporary line, Rachel Rachel Roy, which is sold exclusively at Macy’s. Fortunately for fans of Roy, she has a go-getter spirit and tells WWD that she is not giving up. In a recent statement released by Roy, she states that she is looking for a business partner and in the meantime, will produce the clothes herself.
Rachel Roy’s collection has been worn by stars such as “Being Mary Jane” star Gabrielle Union and Michelle Obama. With a decent celebrity backing and decade of experience, we’re positive that Roy will be up and running again in no time. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
