Usher Raymond gets lean and mean for the 25th Anniversary issue of Men’s Health magazine. Raymond, 34 gave us in depths look at his workout routine at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, NY this summer.
Raymond whose been training hard for his role as Sugar Ray Leonard in “Sugar Ray Leonard in Hands of Stone” got down to a humble 145 lbs from a starting point of 180 lbs.
“My second day I decided to ride to the gym,” 10 miles from his home in Atlanta. “So I rode there. I boxed in the gym and rode the bike back home.”
“I train like an athlete every day, believe it or not.” he touched briefly on his rigorous training.
“Mentally, I’m the type of person who can ignore the pain. Put it somewhere else and allow my body to just go there,” he says. “But I always suffer. You cannot box, ride a bike for 20 miles in the heat—Georgia heat—, then go to the studio, and rehearse. That’s not happening,” he continued.
From the Men’s Health spread, his hard work seems to be paying off. The 25th Anniversary issue is on sale now. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
