In this sexy, smart remake of the 1986 film that starred Rob Lowe and Demi Moore, Bernie (Kevin Hart), introduces his friend Danny (Michael Ealy), to his girl Joan’s roommate, Debbie, played by Regina Hall and Joy Bryant, respectively. Poor Danny hasn’t had much luck with women and Bernie anoints himself as Danny’s love guru. Bernie’s assessment is that Danny is just too good-looking and the best thing for him would be for his face to have an “industrial accident.”
Hart, of course is hilarious, as usual. Just the thought of him in the role of a sexual demigod dispensing advice to mortals is enough to crack you up. And Hall keeps pace with his antics without missing a beat. Ealy and Bryant have a certain je ne sais quoi and their scenes have a smoldering heat. It’s a perfect Cupid’s bow for Valentine’s Day. –p.d. lee
