Nick Cannon to play Richard Pryor in movie biopic
On Wednesday, during an interview with TMZ, “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon hinted that he will take on the role of funny man, Richard Pryor in his upcoming movie biopic.
“Here’s the thing. There have been a lot of people out there who’ve discussed playing this role,” Cannon said. “I never want to jinx anything because you guys know how movies work. If it’s not in production, it’s not real. So all I’ll say is that I’m doing the work right now. I’m doing everything that I need to do to embody it when the opportunity is right.”
“I’ve definitely sat with Lee [Daniels], who’s a close friend, and we actually worked quite a bit on getting it right.” the 33-year-old continued.
Unfortunately for Cannon, Pryor’s children, Richard Pryor Jr., and Rain Pryor say they just don’t think he has the acting chops to pull it off. And while both children have reportedly been cut off the project, Pryor’s kids insist that Marlon Wayans is the man for the job, citing Cannon’s role in Drumline was not a solid enough resume to get the job done. Do you think Cannon is all wrong for the role?
