Norman Oosterbroek, a 43-year-old former bodyguard to numerous celebrities, was reportedly tasered and killed by Miami police earlier this week. The incident occurred on Monday, Sept. 2, when Oosterbroek allegedly was an intruder in a home in Pinecrest, Fla., a suburban community in Miami-Dade County.

According to the Miami New Times, Markus and Christiane Jung own the home and called law enforcement at around 10:45 p.m. to report a nude intruder on the premises. When the police arrived, Markus Jung and Oosterbroek were reportedly fighting. Police say that Oosterbroek was “ingesting an unknown substance.” He violently resisted police intervention and they tasered him. Oosterbroek was quickly taken to Baptist Hospital, and was pronounced dead there.

“We’re still awaiting toxicology reports this morning,” Detective Javier Baez, a spokesman for the Miami Dade Police Department  told the Miami New Times. It should be noted that the police have not officially confirmed that it was Oosterbroek who was killed.

Oosterbroek worked as a bodyguard for Kanye West, Jay Z and Beyonce, Nelson Mandela, Lady Gaga and several other public figures. He founded the RAD Security bodyguard agency, which was profiled in Variety in 2011 as “one of the largest global music celebrity protection firms.”
