Cee-Lo Green and Goodie MOB made an appearance on MTV’s “RapFix Live” this week as they make the media rounds for their upcoming album, Age Against the Machine. During the interview, another elder statesmen of the Dungeon Family became the topic of discussion. André 3000‘s musical career has been in the news lately, after BETs Stephen Hill claimed that Three Stacks was promising a new album by the top of year. André’s reps denied any claim just days afterwards, and Cee-Lo was asked for possible reasons the former OutKast rhymer is so hesitant to return to music full-time.
“He just said he had a severe case of stage fright and just kind of been away from the game and didn’t know if he could truly live up — ah, I just feel like I’m talking to much personal stuff. I hope he don’t mind,” Cee-Lo said.
He went on to add that 3000 is wrestling with the lofty expectations that have been set due to OutKast’s remarkable recording history and his own acclaimed reputation.
“He just said he was bothered by this bar that had been set and maybe he wants to do something different, and he’ll always be his worse competition, his worst critic and maybe he don’t want to live up to what people think he should do,” explained Cee-Lo. “He’s always been exceptional and ahead of his time anyway, so anything he decides to do, next year or the year after that, we’ll still be catching up with what’s on his mind.”
