The people over at Chipotle aren’t too happy with R&B sensation Frank Ocean. According to a lawsuit filed by the burrito specialist in LA County, Ocean signed on to sing a remake of “Pure Imagination” for a new animated ad for the sum of $425,000.
Unfortunately, Ocean and Chipotle came to a disagreement after the “Novacane” singer refused to put the company’s logo in the campaign, claiming that he was promised final say “over the recording and all promotional materials.” Ocean’s team added that they felt that Chipotle was in breach of their contract when it refused to remove its logo.
To top it off, TMZ reports,
“Chipotle claims Frank never finished the track because when they showed him the final cut … Frank was pissed the company’s logo appeared at the end of the spot.”
While we admit there seems to be something missing here, we think it is odd that Ocean would turn down nearly half a million dollars just because he wasn’t feeling the product placement.
