Meek Mill turned the rap game upside down this week when he blasted his longtime hip-hop friend Drake on Twitter, claiming that the Young Money rapper doesn’t write his own rhymes. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Meek’s girlfriend, Nicki Minaj, is close friends with Drake. Now, after days of letting the beef linger, Meek has publicly apologized to Minaj for putting her in a tough situation.
As previously reported, Meek claimed that Drake didn’t write his verse on the Dreams Worth More Than Money track “R.I.C.O.” And Meek claimed that Drake has a ghostwriter named Quentin Miller, who just so happens to have several writing credits on Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.
Drake quietly deflected the accusations, leaving Meek and millions of hip-hop fans fuming over the issue of ghostwriters in rap. But on Wednesday night, it seems that Meek finally had time t reflect and calm down about the beef because he appeared onstage during Minaj’s Pinkprint tour stop in Virginia and apologized to his girlfriend.
“I wanna give, like, a special apology shout out to Nicki Minaj for my crazy a– going crazy on Twitter. You can’t be messing with no hood n—-. I was just upset as a fan that that n—- gave me a verse he ain’t write. Shout-out to Drake. Let him be great in all the mothaf——’ lanes he great in,” Meek said to Minaj as he stroked her hair.
Well, we’re glad that Meek apologized to Minaj, but something tells us his blowups might get her in more trouble down the line. Plus, we’re interested to know how Drake and Minaj are navigating this embarrassing situation as friends.
